Our commitment to accessibility.
West Bay Surgery Center is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to people of all abilities.
West Bay Surgery Center is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually work to improve the experience for all users and to apply the relevant accessibility standards.
Conformance standards
This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, motor, and cognitive disabilities.
Measures we take
West Bay Surgery Center takes the following measures to ensure accessibility:
- Includes accessibility as part of our design and development process.
- Tests pages with automated tools (Lighthouse, axe DevTools) and manual keyboard and screen-reader checks.
- Reviews accessibility on an ongoing basis as the site evolves.
Accessibility features of this site
- Semantic HTML. Headings, lists, landmarks, and form labels are used appropriately so assistive technologies can interpret the page structure.
- Keyboard navigation. All interactive elements — links, buttons, form fields, the menu drawer, the FAQ accordion, and the physicians filter — are reachable and operable with a keyboard.
- Visible focus indicators. A high-contrast focus outline appears on every interactive element when it receives keyboard focus.
- Skip-to-content link. A "Skip to main content" link is available at the top of every page so screen-reader and keyboard users can bypass the navigation.
- Color contrast. Text and background combinations across the site meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios.
- Resizable text. Body copy is set in relative units and remains readable when browser text size is increased.
- Descriptive link text. Links describe their destination; we avoid "click here."
- Tappable phone numbers. All phone numbers are
tel:links, sized to a minimum 44×44px touch target. - Reduced motion. Animations and transitions are disabled for visitors who have enabled
prefers-reduced-motionin their operating system. - Form labels and errors. Every form field has an associated label and validation messages are announced to assistive technologies.
- Map and document descriptions. Embedded maps have descriptive titles, and PDF downloads are labeled with the file format.
Known limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content may not yet be fully accessible. Specifically:
- PDF documents. Some patient forms are PDFs supplied by third parties. We are working to make sure these documents are accessible. If you need an accessible alternative format for any document, please contact us.
- Third-party content. Google Maps and any embedded third-party widgets are governed by their providers' accessibility practices.

Assessment approach
West Bay Surgery Center assesses accessibility through a combination of self-evaluation (Lighthouse, axe DevTools, manual keyboard and screen-reader testing) and ongoing review as new content is added.
